WebGL in WebKit-Clutter

This post was made with an older stylesheet

A new API that was required for the development is now accepted into cogl, and there is a lot more code that is shared with the other WebKit ports. Right now, things are not quite working due to bugs that will hopefully get fixed soon.

Why should I care?

GPU Accelerated compositing is very performant due to the exploitation of the great abilities of modern GPUs instead of sending things that are being rendered back and forth to the CPU for composition purposes, making things slow and unresponsive.

I am tremendously excited about this. WebGL is actually not a bad target for use on the entire desktop as it targets, more or less, ogles2, which we have covered perfecrly with mesa.
