Nautilus | HowTo Hide the Sidebar by Default

nautilus-sidebar

I’ve noticed that I barely use Nautilus sidebar, so whats the reason to waste all this space? Let’s hide it! Besides if we need it back, we just have to hit <F9>.

A screencasting that I am using the Dconf-Editor

Theme:  Lilly Wolf, Love Too Serious

The short version:

Hide Sidebar by default

$ gsettings set org.gnome.nautilus.window-state start-with-sidebar false

Show Sidebar by default (the default)

$ gsettings set org.gnome.nautilus.window-state start-with-sidebar true
