Latest changes in Gnome’s Sound Widget

This post was made with another stylesheet and it might be messed up!

There are some latest re-designs for the Sound menu of Gnome. But caution! I extract these from Gits and things can always change. This is just an indicator where we are today. Tomorrow is a whole different day ;)

Sound Output

Before..

After..

Devices box moves on the left and also Fade Effect and a Subwoofer meter added. Nice!

Sound Input

Before..

After..

Devices just moved on the left, also there isn’t a power off button. Maybe is just ignored from mockup.

Sound Effects

Before..

After..

Nothing much here also, just the standard left box with the alert sounds.

Sound Applications

Before..

After..

Things here remain the same apart for the power off button which is again absent. Maybe is ignored for a purpose, that I don’t know yet.

Hardware Tab also seems to missing. Maybe the move it out of Sound Widget?

This is already how it looks in Ubuntu 12.04 Unity…?

This is not possible,  maybe you are confused with the before/after.

      • António Fernandes

Yes, it is very possible and true. Ubuntu developers and designers made those changes for 12.04 and shared them with GNOME. While they were not merged in time for upstream GNOME 3.4 release, they are available in the Ubuntu 12.04 packages.

Meanwhile, those changes were applied upstream do gnome-control-center and will be available in the next release, GNOME 3.6.

Actually, the wireframe designs shown are enhancements to what is already implemented.
