This release is a snapshot of development code. Although it is buildable and usable, it is primarily intended for testing and hacking purposes. I tested 3.9.90 on my Fedora Rawhide installation and it works quite good but I wouldn’t recommend using it for serious work, so this category of people should just be patient as 3.10 is less than a month away after all :)

The rest of you owe to grab it and test it, so that you can report any problems found and ensure a maximum bug fixing action in which all of the users should participate.

Unified menu looks interesting. Seems to add more clicks to get to those options though?

    • Dread Knight

Yeah, I was wondering about that, looking forward to see it in action.

  • Magneira

Can this be instaled on Fedora 19?

  • user

ostree build looks a little better already. I really like many changes they have done. Upcoming 3.10 is going to be a big step forward … again. Great work.

  • ScionicSpectre

Nice to see the Mutter decorations being consistent with the client-side ones. Although I did like that shiny little button a lot, especially on dark windows, I suppose this is cleaner and makes more sense. I don’t know what it is, but it feels less ‘integrated’ with the window, now. The old button felt like it WAS the corner of the window, and this X is just stamped on there.

I know it’s the right decision, considering GNOME’s overall aesthetic and design goals, but I think part of me is going to miss the old close button.

    • Magneira

Yeah I agree with you, that old button was good for touch screens, but this looks more integrated and clean

  • Teucs

Looking great! I’m excited to see how the unified system menu will turn out.

  • jhenning

Any way to completely prevent screen blanking when locked?
