Andre Klapper announced the first draft schedule for GNOME 3.10 in MLs

Hi,

I’ve published a draft for the GNOME 3.9/3.10 schedule to

https://live.gnome.org/ThreePointNine#Schedule

In case of no feedback this will become the final schedule in a few days.

GNOME 3.10 is coming out in 25th of September, but all the new features will be available for early adopters from August 21, which is the beta version. This is still a draft and dates might slightly change, but we will definitely get the new GNOME after our summer holidays -at least who  ever has summer holidays!

Some of the new (under discussion) features can be viewed at:

and include:

But obviously everyone will focus on:

Which is planned as testing for 3.10 and full working at the version after 3.10. Actually there is a Draft Announcement for Wayland from Olav Vitters. This is personal opinion (at the moment) and it doesn’t reflect GNOME schedule but you still can check it here:

From Andre Klapper

Note that feature freeze for May 29th only refers to system-wide, mostly cross-module features. Every module itself can receive new features until “the freeze” comes in late August.

Off-topic: Could you please fix your twitter account? Its triple posting same topic!

    • alex285

Well, thanks for saying it, (I didn’t know) but I can’t find a way to fix that. We use dlvr.it and I see no bugs on it. I don’t know why it re-posts three times…

      • alex285

Hmm and I just noticed how bad is dlvr.it free plan :(

The shorten links are fb.me. May be its coming from facebook? By the way, I recommend ifttt ( https://ifttt.com/ ). Its simply awesome!

And here is IFTTT recipe for you. You can use it with your own account. https://ifttt.com/recipes/89327

If you connected FB and Twitter, then that explains it. Happens to me too.

          • alex285

I think I found it, thank you!

            You’re welcome :)

Go away you cretinous Ubuntu fanboi.

  • Matthew Javelet

Damn, 3.9.1 will be due by the 29th? Not much time left for new features to accepted. Also I’m going to have to jump on the rawhide wagon to get these changes, I may wait until F20 is branched though.

Porting to wayland is there on everyone’s mind right now, its not a small task. While there are some new apps and features in the plans, I don’t think we can expect a lot more in the next two (or three) cycles than a stable wayland gnome.

      • Matthew Javelet

Well after the final release they’ll release a newstable which means they have a month to stabilize 3.10 so I don’t think wayland porting is going to take more than this one cycle. I really just want a nautilus upgrade and better overview for now.

    When will we see Music?

  • w1ngnut

Sweet!! Would like to see a new Installation tool (aka Software Center). Any plans or we’ll only see it in GOS?
