Christian says:  ” GnomeUniversity is an effort to get more community members comfortable with the C language and the GNOME platform. Understanding a least a bit of C can go a long way towards helping developers write better code in a multitude of languages.

GNOME libraries are often written in C, and doing so allows for easy integration with higher level languages such as Python, Ruby, C++,JavaScript, and more. We should be encouraging application developers to use whatever language they are comfortable with, while providing all of the same APIs to the various languages“.

The eccentric Larry Ellisson (Oracle CEO) called Yale’s Class of 2000 losers that will never make it to become billionaires like Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Michael Dell, and himself (Forbes’ top 10 list of billionaires at that time). What’s in common in these 4 men? They never graduated from University!

Gnome University doesn’t give diplomas, so in theory you have a chance to become billionaires ..besides C programmers are the highest paid developers!

C is the most beautiful language out there. Everyone should speak it. :)

    • alex285

1,5 billion people speak it :)

    • Eduard Gotwig

      You’re drunk(?)

      • foobar

No, just a guy who wrote a mini-operating system for fun as first real project. :)

        • alex285

          love your low profile :)

        • Eduard Gotwig

Python has much more elegance :D

          • foobar

A woman riding her horse in side-saddle as well. But it’s slower and not even slightly useful for *real* tasks. :P

          • Eduard Gotwig

like the Ubuntu Software Center, or the Muon Software Suite on KDE. Google does not hire the creator and you dont see “.py” in the GET URL parts, NO.

          • foobar

Real tasks are so low that you’re afraid to leave scratches on your transistors. :P

    • Aventinus the Zethos

Yeah, if you are a cyborg or something! :P

    • Masishta

I can’t agree more with you.C is not only most beautifull but most usefull too.
other languages especially big ones sucks!and especially OO ones!

  • Aventinus the Zethos

Calling it a University should allow you to study more languages. :P What about Python, Vala and of course Javascript?

But hey, don’t get me wrong, great work there. I’d like to see more actions like that. :)

    • alex285

If you know C, you know everything :)

      • Eduard Gotwig

        WTF. ITS SIMPLY NOT TRUE^^

        • alex285

Jumping from C to .Net or Java is a walk in the park. The other way around simply doesn’t work :)
